The Gate

Installation, wood, build, laugh sound, arduino board
150 x 70 x 230 cm, 2012
Technical supported by Hsien Yu, Cheng

The Gate is inspired by the experience of passing through the security check in airports. Whether carrying dangerous objects or not, staffs always show severe gestures, creating much inexplicable pressure upon every passengers. By recreating a security-like gate at entrances, however, replace the alarm into a comedy laugh sound, the installation is trying to revers the nervous feeling bond with the general criminalisation of the security system.
